About the role
Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver graduate-level courses, lectures, and laboratory sessions in equine medicine.
- Utilize active-learning strategies and team-based learning to promote clinical decision-making.
- Create instructional materials including learning videos, handouts, and presentations.
- Prepare, administer, and grade assessments to measure student achievement of learning outcomes.
- Provide timely, constructive feedback to students to support academic and clinical development.
- Engage in research or scholarly activity in equine medicine to contribute to new knowledge.
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary research projects and grant applications.
- Mentor students in scholarly inquiry and research skill development.
- Participate in College and University committees, meetings, and assigned initiatives.
- Maintain professional veterinary licensure and complete required continuing education.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree.
- Eligibility for licensure in the state of Florida.
- Advanced training in equine medicine (e.g., residency, specialty board certification, or equivalent).
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous teaching experience in an academic setting.
- Veterinary clinical experience in equine practice.
- Demonstrated record of research, scholarly activity, or professional contributions.
