About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach 24 credit hours per academic year, including rhetoric, survey courses, and upper-division English major courses
- Manage classrooms, conduct student assessments, and maintain professional standards for syllabi and grading
- Mentor students in senior research or capstone experiences
- Provide academic advising and support to students after their first year
- Engage in professional development and scholarship to maintain currency in the field
- Participate in college service through committees, the Faculty Senate, and administrative meetings
- Lead PEAK intensive experiential interdisciplinary courses during May terms on a rotating basis
Requirements
- PhD in English, British Literature, or a related field from an accredited institution
- Teaching experience in English or an associated field
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous program administration experience
- Comparable teaching experience at the college level
- Experience teaching beginning level rhetoric and composition courses
- MFA in Creative Writing
- Secondary specialization in environmental literature or rhetoric
