Assistant Professor of Chemistry

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate lecture and laboratory courses with a 3-3 teaching load
• Develop and deliver both introductory and advanced-level chemistry courses
• Establish and maintain a productive research program that actively involves undergraduate students
• Seek and secure external funding to support research and student development
• Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at professional conferences
• Advise and mentor undergraduate students on academic and career goals
• Provide support for students from diverse backgrounds, particularly Black men and men of color
• Participate in departmental, college, and professional service

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related field from an accredited institution
• Postdoctoral experience
• Evidence of scholarly productivity, including peer-reviewed publications
• Demonstrated potential to develop and maintain an externally funded research program
• Commitment to mentoring and supporting students from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds
• Strong oral and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching advanced-level courses in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, bioinorganic chemistry, chemical biology, or inorganic chemistry
• Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching through prior course instruction or related experience
