About the role

Responsibilities

  • Teach a standard load of 4.5 courses per year, including general biology, genetics, evolution, and ecology
  • Develop and teach upper-level biology courses and labs in the area of conservation biology and ecology
  • Conduct sustained scholarly research and incorporate undergraduate students into your research program
  • Provide academic advising and mentorship to undergraduate students
  • Serve as a member of the Biology Department and the Environmental Studies and Sciences Program Committee
  • Participate in departmental and college service, including committee work

Requirements

  • PhD in biology or a related field (in hand or expected by Fall 2027)
  • Expertise in conservation ecology, with a preference for vertebrate study systems
  • Demonstrated commitment to and excellence in undergraduate teaching
  • Proven ability to mentor undergraduate research
  • Experience or understanding of working with underrepresented and diverse academic populations
