Assistant Professor of Biochemistry

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate biochemistry and introductory chemistry courses, including general biology, general chemistry, and organic chemistry
• Prepare course materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts
• Evaluate and grade student classwork, lab work, assignments, and papers
• Advise students on academic curricula, vocational paths, and career issues
• Conduct research in a specific area of expertise and seek grant funding for projects
• Participate in departmental and university-wide service, including committee work and student advising
• Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issues and assist with program development

Requirements

• Earned Ph.D. in biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline
• Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence in an undergraduate classroom setting
• Evidence of potential for developing a research program that engages undergraduate students

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous teaching experience in biology and introductory level chemistry courses
• Ability to teach organic chemistry and biochemistry
• Experience working with culturally diverse populations
• Experience in curriculum and institutional assessment
