About the role

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver graduate-level courses, classes, and laboratory sessions in avian and exotic animal medicine.
  • Utilize team-based learning and active-learning strategies to promote student engagement and clinical decision-making.
  • Create instructional materials, including learning videos, handouts, and presentations aligned with curricular objectives.
  • Prepare, administer, and grade assessments to measure student achievement of learning outcomes.
  • Engage in research or scholarly activity in avian and exotic animal medicine to contribute to new knowledge.
  • Mentor students in scholarly inquiry and research skill development.
  • Participate in College and University committees, meetings, and accreditation activities.
  • Foster professional relationships with peers, students, and external stakeholders to advance the College's mission.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree.
  • Eligibility for licensure in the state of Florida.
  • Advanced training in avian and exotic animal medicine (e.g., residency, board certification, or equivalent).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous teaching experience in an academic setting.
  • Veterinary clinical experience in avian and exotic animal practice.
  • Demonstrated record of research, scholarly activity, or professional contributions.
