Assistant Professor of Art History

Responsibilities

• Maintain a 3/3 undergraduate teaching load, including introductory surveys, regional/period courses, and thematic seminars
• Design and teach a course for the General Education core program
• Engage in continuing professional and scholarly growth
• Provide academic advising to students
• Perform service to the Department and the College
• Serve as a labor supervisor for students within the College's Work Program

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Art History (must be held at the time of appointment)
• Specialization in pre-1800s art history, with an interest in global, transnational, or diasporic approaches
• Proven excellence and innovation in undergraduate teaching
• Ability to teach introductory and upper-level courses

Preferred Qualifications

• Specialization in the Ancient Mediterranean, European/Global Renaissance/Baroque, or arts of Africa, Asia, or Latin America
• Expertise in pre-1800s craft history or material culture
