About the role
Responsibilities
The Department of Architecture is seeking three tenure-track Assistant Professors specializing in Structures, Design and Professional Practice, and Design and History/Theory. Responsibilities vary by specialization but generally include:
- Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses (18 credits per academic year)
- Leading design studios and providing regular student feedback through desk critiques
- Engaging in active creative, scholarly, or research pursuits
- Participating in department and college committees
- Advising students and contributing to recruitment and retention efforts
- Fostering an inclusive and equitable learning environment
Requirements
- Master's degree in Architecture (M.Arch) or a comparable professional/graduate degree in a related field (e.g., Structural or Civil Engineering)
- Expertise relevant to the specific specialization (Structures, Professional Practice, or History/Theory)
- Ability to teach both undergraduate and graduate-level courses
- Demonstrated commitment to inclusive excellence and fostering a diverse campus community
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Architecture, Civil Engineering, or an allied discipline
- Previous college-level teaching experience in your area of expertise
- Professional registration or membership (e.g., AIA, NCARB, PE)
- Experience with emerging technologies, such as BIM workflows, digital fabrication, or advanced simulation software
- A promising scholarly trajectory and record of peer-reviewed publications
