About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach courses in the Africana concentration within the Social Relations major, including Introduction to Africana Studies, African History, African American History, African American Politics, and Africana Philosophy
- Complete required course and program assessments
- Engage in departmental and university-wide service
- Participate in extra-curricular activities such as university open houses
- Engage in scholarly and professional development as outlined in University Tenure and Promotion Policies
Requirements
- Ph.D. in Africology (African American Studies or Africana Studies)
- Experience teaching core courses in Africana Studies
- Experience teaching and working with students from marginalized groups
- Demonstrated student-centered teaching practice
- Effective use of classroom technology
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching distance education courses
- Demonstrated ability to mentor students from marginalized groups for conference presentations
