Assistant Professor, Modern Korean History

Responsibilities

• Teach four courses each academic year in Korean History, East Asian Studies, and other field-specific subjects
• Advance undergraduate and graduate programs, including History, Global Asian Studies, and World History
• Maintain a productive record of scholarly research
• Advise students and provide academic mentorship
• Serve the Department, the College, and the University through various service roles
• Contribute to the growth of the Global Asian Studies Program and Korean Studies at Northeastern

Requirements

• Ph.D. in History or a related field in hand by the employment start date
• Expertise in Modern Korean History (19th century onwards)
• Demonstrated ability to teach both undergraduate and graduate-level courses

Preferred Qualifications

• Research expertise in subfields such as history of medicine, science, technology, environment, economics, law, gender, race, or digital humanities
• Experience with cross-disciplinary research or public-facing scholarship
• Experience with pedagogical innovations or experiential learning activities
