Assistant Professor/Instructor of Education (Survey of Exceptionalities)

Responsibilities

• Teach the introductory course "Survey of Exceptionalities" during the Spring 2027 semester
• Explore the range of human experiences regarding individuals with exceptionalities, including giftedness and various disabilities
• Facilitate application-based learning, such as dyslexia simulations and gifted/talented identification activities
• Supervise and support students through 15 hours of required field experience
• Examine cross-cultural perspectives, historical/legal foundations, and contemporary issues in disability studies and inclusive education

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Special Education, Educational Psychology, Curriculum & Instruction, Inclusive Education, or a closely related field
• Strong knowledge of disability-related laws and educational practices (e.g., IDEA, Section 504, ADA, IEP/504 processes, LRE/inclusion)
• Proven experience teaching or supporting inclusive practices, accommodations, and differentiation
• Demonstrated ability to lead practical, application-based classroom activities
• Ability to supervise and support student field-experience requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• Ph.D. or Ed.D. in a relevant field
