Assistant Professor, Education

Responsibilities

• Teach departmental courses within special education and general education
• Serve as the Special Education Program Coordinator for the Bachelor of Science in Special Education degree
• Monitor and coordinate required field experience placements for students
• Mentor student teachers as a University Supervisor in local schools
• Develop and maintain special education courses aligned with professional teaching standards
• Advise assigned candidates and prospective students
• Serve as the faculty advisor for the ONU Council for Exceptional Children student chapter
• Manage Special Education grant funds and lead program review or reporting requirements
• Develop scholarship projects including publications, presentations, and workshops

Requirements

• Master's degree in Education (terminal degree preferred)
• Minimum of 7 years of contemporary expertise in the field of special education
• A lifestyle in agreement with the ONU Statement of Mission, Faith, and Lifestyle Covenant
• A strong and articulate Christian faith demonstrated through servant leadership

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching at the university level
• Substantial experience teaching specifically within special education
