About the role
Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate all sections of required first-year writing courses to ensure consistency in learning outcomes and assessment.
- Develop and maintain shared curricular materials, rubrics, and instructional resources.
- Recruit, hire, mentor, and support full-time and adjunct faculty teaching writing courses.
- Lead campus-wide efforts to integrate generative AI literacy into writing instruction and faculty development.
- Coordinate general education writing assessment, including data collection, analysis, and reporting.
- Provide oversight for the writing components of the Excel and Bridge programs to support student transition and retention.
- Maintain a 3/3 teaching load and an active research agenda in rhetoric, composition, or writing studies.
Requirements
- Doctorate in Rhetoric & Composition, Writing Studies, English (with a composition focus), or a closely related field (ABD considered with evidence of timely completion).
- Demonstrated experience teaching first-year writing or multi-section writing courses.
- Evidence of innovative teaching and curriculum development.
- Familiarity with writing assessment and general education frameworks.
- Engagement with emerging technologies in writing instruction, specifically generative AI.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience administering or coordinating a college-level writing program.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with faculty and academic leadership.
