About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic, operational, and academic oversight for the Department of Flight at the Prescott campus.
- Lead and mentor Flight Department staff, fostering a culture of professionalism, safety, and continuous improvement.
- Serve as the departmental lead for the Quality Management System (QMS/OMS), coordinating internal audits and corrective action tracking.
- Act as the FAA-designated Chief Ground Instructor for all FAA-approved ground schools operated by the department.
- Ensure operational alignment between the Flight Department and the Aeronautical Science Department regarding curriculum and instruction.
- Represent the department in meetings with students, families, regulatory agencies, and industry partners.
Requirements
- Master's degree in aviation, aerospace, business, education, or a related field from an accredited institution.
- FAA Advanced or Instrument Ground Instructor Certificate.
- Eligibility to serve as an FAA Chief Ground Instructor.
- Demonstrated experience in FAA Part 141 flight training operations and regulatory compliance.
- Proven leadership and supervisory experience in an aviation, academic, or flight training environment.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in higher education administration or collegiate aviation programs.
- Experience with quality management systems (QMS), safety management systems (SMS), or accreditation processes.
- Prior experience working with FAA regulatory agencies and aviation industry stakeholders.
- Experience leading teams in a fast-paced operational environment.
