Assistant Probate Auditor

Responsibilities

• Assist the Probate Auditor in conducting financial and compliance audits
• Analyze submitted accounting for assets in guardianship and estate accounts
• Verify documentation for reported transactions and depreciation methods
• Assist in determining compliance with state reporting requirements
• Review internal control structures to identify potential weaknesses
• Consult with attorneys and outside parties to troubleshoot accounting discrepancies
• Perform special projects and other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• One academic year from an accredited college or university in accounting, pre-law, political science, business, or a related field
• Experience in accounting or a related field
• Current valid Texas motor vehicle operator’s license
• Ability to be insured by the County’s insurance carrier

Preferred Qualifications

• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Word)
• Good knowledge of general accounting and audit practices
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
