About the role
Responsibilities
- Assist the Probate Auditor in conducting financial and compliance audits
- Analyze submitted accounting for assets in guardianship and estate accounts
- Verify documentation for reported transactions and depreciation methods
- Assist in determining compliance with state reporting requirements
- Review internal control structures to identify potential weaknesses
- Consult with attorneys and outside parties to troubleshoot accounting discrepancies
- Perform special projects and other related duties as assigned
Requirements
- One academic year from an accredited college or university in accounting, pre-law, political science, business, or a related field
- Experience in accounting or a related field
- Current valid Texas motor vehicle operator’s license
- Ability to be insured by the County’s insurance carrier
Preferred Qualifications
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Word)
- Good knowledge of general accounting and audit practices
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
