Assistant Principal

Responsibilities

• Assist the school principal in the overall administration of instructional programs, campus operations, and student services.
• Participate in the development and evaluation of educational programs and campus improvement plans.
• Observe employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences using the Texas Teacher Appraisal System.
• Promote a positive, caring climate for learning and ensure school rules are observed uniformly and equitably.
• Coordinate campus support services including transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and maintenance.
• Assist in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staff members.
• Manage campus safety through regular inspections and drills.
• Conduct conferences with parents, students, and teachers regarding school and student issues.
• Assume administrative responsibilities in the absence of the principal.

Requirements

• Master’s Degree.
• Principal, Principal as Instructional Leader, or Mid-Management Certificate.
• Advancing Educational Leadership (AEL) or Instructional Leadership Development (ILD) Certificate.
• Working knowledge of the Texas Teacher Evaluation Support System (T-TESS).
• Ability to manage budgets, personnel, and coordinate complex campus functions.
• Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with the Texas Principal Evaluation Support System (T-PESS).
• At least five (5) years of experience as a classroom teacher.
