About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and vision for the Speech and Language Pathology (SLP) program.
  • Oversee curriculum planning, development, and enhancement to ensure alignment with industry trends and accreditation standards.
  • Manage faculty and staff, including onboarding adjunct faculty and providing mentorship and performance evaluations.
  • Ensure program compliance with Council of Academic Accreditation in Speech Language Pathology (CAA) standards and lead accreditation processes.
  • Manage program budgets, resource allocation, and fiscal sustainability.
  • Support student success through academic advising, career planning, and the implementation of retention strategies.
  • Foster a professional and inclusive program culture and represent the department at university and community events.

Requirements

  • Earned academic doctoral degree (PhD or EdD).
  • Active, unencumbered SLP license in any US jurisdiction and eligibility for NYS SLP license.
  • Minimum of six years of full-time higher education experience.
  • Minimum of three years of experience as a full-time core faculty member in a CAA accredited program.
  • Ability to qualify for the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Program Director or Department Chair.
  • ASHA CCCs certification.
  • Professional development or education in administration, management, instructional design, or student evaluation.
  • Experience in fiscal management and program evaluation.
