Assistant or Associate Professor of Film

Responsibilities

• Teach approximately six classes per academic year, primarily focusing on film production
• Collaborate with the program Chair to develop relevant courses, curriculum, and pedagogy
• Mentor students and adjunct faculty, providing academic and professional guidance
• Utilize the College’s Learning Management System (LMS) to support instruction and develop online courses
• Participate in departmental and college-wide service, including committees and accreditation processes
• Engage in admissions and recruitment activities, such as open houses and portfolio days
• Maintain a personal professional practice as a working filmmaker
• Nurture relationships with cultural institutions and industry partners

Requirements

• MFA in Film/Filmmaking or professional experience in film/video production equivalent to a terminal degree
• For Assistant Professor: College-level teaching experience
• For Associate Professor: Five years of full-time teaching experience at the college level
• Substantive professional experience as a working filmmaker outside of academia
• Knowledge of digital technologies used in professional art and design environments
• Demonstrated ability to mentor a diverse population of students

Preferred Qualifications

• Narrative filmmaking credits and evidence of successfully teaching the genre
• Experience with virtual production or visual effects production
• A strong exhibition or film festival record
• Experience working within the motion picture industry
