Assistant or Associate Professor of Education

Responsibilities

• Conduct high-quality research in the field of Education, with a focus on Learning Sciences and the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in teaching and learning.
• Teach undergraduate students, demonstrating a strong commitment to excellence in liberal arts education.
• Collaborate with current Education faculty to revise courses for the Bowdoin Teacher Scholars (BTS) pathway to include AI-related content.
• Engage with the Hastings Initiative for AI and Humanity to critically examine and ethically guide the trajectory of AI.
• Contribute to the inclusive excellence and diverse learning environment of the College.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Education or a related field (expected by the appointment date).
• Research background in mathematics or data science.
• Research focus on Learning Sciences and the development/role of artificial intelligence.
• Demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentorship.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within a liberal arts environment.
• Proven track record of successful, long-term research potential.
• Ability to foster inclusive learning environments for a diverse student population.
