About the role

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Chief Media Engineer with the research, development, maintenance, and repair of media production equipment and systems
  • Diagnose and repair issues with cameras, camera support systems, Steadicam systems, tripods, dollies, jibs, and professional lighting equipment
  • Troubleshoot live television production systems, editing/post-production software, and networked storage or asset management systems
  • Perform component-level troubleshooting and document findings for the Chief Media Engineer
  • Initiate corrective actions by contacting vendors, obtaining technical information, and preparing equipment for shipment or repair
  • Plan and execute maintenance projects and provide regular progress updates
  • Support departmental productions, events, and technology operations while maintaining professional interaction with students, faculty, and staff

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • At least 6 months of experience directly related to media production duties
  • Experience with large-format digital, broadcast, and DSLR cameras
  • Proficiency with Steadicam Shadow and Steadicam Pilot systems
  • Experience with professional lighting equipment, jibs, and dollies
  • Proficiency in Pro Tools and both Apple and PC computer systems
  • Ability to read waveform monitors and vectorscopes
  • Technical ability to solder and crimp connectors
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a media-related field
  • 1–2 years of professional media production experience
  • Formal Steadicam training
  • Understanding of live music production, electronics, mixing, and mastering
  • Knowledge of post-production audio workflows and experience with iZotope RX Advanced
