About the role

Responsibilities

  • Detect and prevent suspected fraud incidents by reviewing case alerts and conducting complex investigations.
  • Analyze customer account information, history, and supporting documentation to identify unusual or fraudulent activity.
  • Document all decision-making facts clearly within case management tools and ensure all recommended actions are recorded.
  • Identify potential fraud trends and recommend changes to detection rules to reduce losses and costs.
  • Communicate findings and outcomes to appropriate stakeholders, business lines, or customers.
  • Assist in the development of training content and provide informal coaching or direction to team members.
  • Ensure all activities comply with governing regulations, internal policies, and AML regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education or a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in banking.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to make logical deductions, even with limited information.
  • Superior verbal, written, and electronic communication skills.
  • High technological aptitude and the ability to quickly adapt to new systems and processes.
  • Ability to work an overnight shift (Tuesday to Saturday, 10:00pm to 6:00am).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in Fraud or Commercial banking.
  • Bilingualism in English and French (oral and written).
  • Working knowledge of industry trends regarding fraud detection and prevention.
  • Experience with banking systems such as Pega, PRM, Certapay, CIS, or AS400.
