Assistant Laboratory Director

Responsibilities

• Review, approve, and sign-out reports for clinical molecular, cytogenetic, and oncologic results
• Oversee the review of genetic and CNV variant data using NGS and microarray results
• Provide clinical and technical support for genetic counselors and laboratory personnel
• Set and maintain standards for laboratory testing and analytic performance
• Analyze lab data and contribute to scientific publications
• Serve as Clinical Consultant or Technical Supervisor as required
• Manage, mentor, and develop laboratory personnel

Requirements

• MD/DO and/or PhD in genetics or a related field
• ABMGG board certification in Clinical Cytogenetics and/or Molecular Genetics, or ABP board certification in Molecular Genetic Pathology
• Current California laboratory director license (Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist or Clinical Cytogeneticist)
• Current NYS CLEP Certificate of Qualification in Genetic Testing
• 5+ years of experience in a CLIA-certified clinical laboratory setting
• Management experience
• Knowledge of CAP, CLIA, California, and New York state regulations

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading a laboratory offering prenatal screening and oncology testing
• Familiarity with next-generation sequencing (NGS) and advanced copy number detection methods
• Strong background in human/medical genetics and oncology
• Understanding of statistical measures used in genetic testing
