About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide support to the Kitchen Manager and lead the kitchen team in their absence
- Ensure high standards of service efficiency, sanitation, training, and safety practices
- Manage food quality, consistency, plate presentation, and adherence to recipe guidelines
- Oversee station setup, cooking, ticket times, and waste prevention
- Assist with ordering, inventory, receiving, and maintaining par levels
- Coordinate culinary schedules, labor control, and duty assignments
- Develop, coach, discipline, and mentor team members
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and ensure proper food storage and equipment maintenance
- Investigate and resolve food quality complaints
- Ensure a safe working environment and adherence to security procedures
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in varied kitchen positions (food prep, line cook, fry cook, expediter)
- Minimum 1 year of experience in a management or supervisor role
- Active ServSafe Manager certificate
- High familiarity with kitchen equipment, processes, and health/safety guidelines
- Ability to delegate tasks and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills for interacting with diverse staff
- Physical ability to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
