Assistant Headteacher

Responsibilities

• Play a key role in the overall smooth running of the school
• Support and develop teaching and learning through coaching, demonstrating, and modelling good practice
• Lead by example by coaching, mentoring, and supporting training and development for all team members
• Take lead responsibility for the curriculum offer, provision, well-being, progress, and achievement of all children
• Work with the Head of School to ensure an engaging, well-resourced, and differentiated curriculum
• Act as the site Exam Officer, ensuring all examination and accreditation processes meet JCQ requirements
• Lead on Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) to support KS4 pupils' pathways to adulthood
• Lead in a specific curriculum area across the wider school network

Requirements

• QTS or QTLS is essential
• Proven track record of excellent teaching within a special needs environment
• Experience in leadership or holding responsibility for a significant area or phase of inclusion
• Experience turning policy into effective and successful practice
• Strong team management skills and the ability to work collaboratively
• Ability to manage complex scenarios and conflict resolution effectively
• Excellent communication skills for a wide range of audiences and external agencies

Preferred Qualifications

• Management or leadership qualification
• Accredited training in specific areas of special education (e.g., Autism, Dyslexia)
