About the role

Responsibilities

  • Perform legal research and provide advice on complex legal matters to various agency divisions
  • Assist with litigation, subpoenas, discovery requests, and document retention
  • Advise on Procurement Policy Board rules and government contract rules
  • Draft and review complex RFPs, contracts, and agency agreements
  • Draft legislation and review proposed legislation
  • Review reports and recommendations in prevailing wage cases
  • Assist with complex Freedom of Information Law (FOIL) matters
  • Address compliance and risk issues and develop agency policy
  • Handle matters relating to New York civil service law and conflicts of interest

Requirements

  • Admission to the New York State Bar
  • Four years of recent full-time relevant legal experience
  • Eighteen months of experience in a supervisory, administrative, or managerial capacity or performing highly complex legal work
  • Must remain a member of the New York State Bar in good standing
