Assistant Engineer (Steam Plant)

Responsibilities

• Operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair high-pressure steam systems and auxiliary equipment to optimize energy use.
• Troubleshoot and repair steam devices, including electronic, electrical, and mechanical components.
• Install and maintain computerized electronic, pneumatic, and direct digital control (DDC) devices.
• Perform brazing, silver and lead soldering, pipe fitting, welding, and fabrication as required.
• Read and interpret complex blueprints, sketches, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Coordinate repairs with other trades affected by steam operations.
• Provide relief boiler operator coverage via rotating swing shifts as required.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• At least 6 years of experience in high-pressure steam plant operations or other high-pressure utilities (e.g., natural gas, water).
• Formal training in high-pressure steam systems.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, sketches, and schematics.
• Valid Driver's License with a good driving record.
• Current ANSI/OSHA compliant training card to operate aerial lifts, bucket trucks, or forklifts.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Outlook.
• Physical ability to climb ladders, bend, reach, crawl, and lift up to 60 lbs.
