Responsibilities

• Manage an active criminal case docket
• Prepare and file pleadings, handle discovery, and brief/argue motions
• Conduct witness preparation, grand jury presentations, hearings, and trials
• Evaluate cases to formulate and negotiate appropriate dispositions
• Conference cases with defense counsel and judges
• Make court appearances pertaining to all phases of litigation
• Investigate cases using legal processes such as subpoenas, search warrants, and surveillance
• Collaborate with local, state, and federal law enforcement partners

Requirements

• Strong academic credentials
• Demonstrated commitment to public service and criminal law
• Excellent verbal, writing, and critical thinking skills
• Leadership abilities, maturity, and interpersonal skills
• Must be a U.S. citizen
• Must reside in New York State
• Must have passed the NYS Bar Examination or be admitted to the practice of law in NYS (or sit for the first available UBE if a recent graduate)
