About the role
About the Company
The Nassau County District Attorney's Office investigates and prosecutes violations of state and local criminal statutes occurring within Nassau County. With nearly 230 attorneys and a total staff in excess of 450, it is one of the largest district attorney's offices in the country.
Responsibilities
- Manage an active criminal case docket including investigations and prosecutions
- Investigate cases using subpoenas, court orders, search warrants, and eavesdropping warrants
- Prepare and file pleadings, handle discovery, and draft/argue motions
- Conduct witness preparation, grand jury presentations, hearings, and trials
- Evaluate cases to formulate and negotiate appropriate dispositions
- Make court appearances pertaining to all phases of litigation
- Collaborate with local, state, and federal law enforcement partners
Requirements
- Admitted to the practice of law in NYS in good standing
- Resident of New York State
- At least five years of experience in criminal investigation and prosecution
- Significant long-term investigations experience
- Grand jury and felony jury trial experience
- Ability to make a two-year employment commitment
