Juris Doctorate degree, 3+ years appellate attorney experience, U.S. citizenship, New York State residency
About the role
Responsibilities
- Represent the People of the State of New York in appellate litigation on a wide range of constitutional and statutory law issues
- Address complex legal issues clearly and effectively in oral and written format
- Brief and argue a substantial caseload of appeals before the state and federal courts
- Handle post-conviction litigation, including direct appeals, motion responses, and federal writs of habeas corpus
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate degree
- 3+ years of appellate attorney experience or equivalent
- U.S. citizenship
- New York State residency as of the first day of employment
- Strong writing, research, and analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and effectively under deadlines
- Ability to work nights, holidays, and weekends as needed
- Excellent presentation and organizational skills
