Assistant Director, Social Media

Responsibilities

• Plan, create, and post engaging, platform-native short-form video and photo content for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts.
• Provide live digital "behind the scenes" coverage of on-campus events to showcase campus life.
• Collaborate with students, faculty, and staff to uncover authentic stories and help them feel comfortable on camera.
• Participate in creative brainstorming sessions to develop new content ideas based on campus trends.
• Coach student employees and social media ambassadors to refine their storytelling and content creation skills.
• Track social media performance and engagement metrics to drive audience growth.
• Write original, compelling captions for social media posts and occasional short articles for the university website.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree.
• 1-2 years of relevant experience in social media, video creation, or a related field (internships and work-study included).
• Proven ability to shoot and edit high-quality, social-media-appropriate video and photo content.
• Proficiency with video-editing tools such as CapCut or other platform-native editors.
• Basic graphic design skills using Canva or similar tools.
• Strong writing and editing skills for producing clear and engaging copy.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some nights and weekends, to cover campus events.
• Ability to travel around campus to capture content and attend meetings.
