About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide confidential, trauma-informed crisis intervention, advocacy, and support services to survivors of sexual, gender-based, and intimate partner violence.
  • Manage individual case management and assessments to identify immediate and long-term needs, rights, and appropriate referrals.
  • Participate in a 24/7, year-round on-call supervision rotation to provide guidance on crisis intervention and immediate safety.
  • Oversee the Peer Advocate Program, including the recruitment, selection, training, and supervision of volunteer staff.
  • Deliver criminal and civil justice advocacy, including accompaniment for police reports, forensic medical exams, and court proceedings.
  • Collaborate with the Training and Prevention team to implement compliance-based programming and community outreach.
  • Maintain highly confidential records and case notes in accordance with FERPA and New York Public Health Law.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in victim advocacy, crisis intervention, community organizing, or prevention education.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sexual assault dynamics and their effects.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proven program management and time management skills.
  • Ability to work in a multi-racial environment with a commitment to social justice and anti-oppression practices.
  • Ability to work an onsite, flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and a 24/7 on-call rotation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's or advanced degree.
  • Previous supervisory experience.
  • Familiarity with NYC service providers, emergency department protocols, and the criminal justice system.
  • Experience with volunteer management, including curriculum design and student development.
  • Experience working within a higher education setting.
