About the role

Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate major and principal gift prospects through detailed biographical, business, and financial research.
  • Conduct in-depth research using online databases, in-house data, and other reference sources to provide capacity assessments.
  • Prepare high-quality written profiles and reports, synthesizing complex information for various audiences and stakeholders.
  • Utilize prospecting tools, including screening and data modeling, to analyze prospect pools and support fundraising projections.
  • Collaborate with the Prospect Management team to ensure prospects are effectively moved through the donor pipeline.
  • Maintain accurate and complete internal databases, including prospect coding, tracking, and status monitoring.
  • Support the development of leadership volunteer pipelines by analyzing potential candidates for trustee roles.
  • Safeguard the confidentiality of constituent information in accordance with ethical and professional guidelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 2-5 years of experience in prospect research.
  • Experience working within a nonprofit or higher education environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience working with donor and fundraising databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize material from multiple sources into clear, logical reports.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Kinsight ascend or similar fundraising database tools.
  • Familiarity with research resource materials consistent with APRA’s Advanced Body of Knowledge.
  • Experience in a complex higher education context.
