Assistant Director of Trades

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day supervision and support for HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Carpentry, Painting, and Maintenance shops
• Schedule and assign employees to various maintenance, repair, and renovation projects
• Coordinate maintenance and renovation activities, working with subordinates and external contractors
• Inspect buildings, equipment, and campus grounds for hazards and violations of safety codes and regulations
• Maintain accurate work records through the current work order program
• Develop and implement effective preventative maintenance programs in collaboration with the Director
• Supervise unionized staff, including interviewing, training, and performance appraisals
• Serve as a liaison to the Town of Easton and remain available for after-hours emergency calls

Requirements

• Associate’s degree from a two or four-year college or university, or 10 years of related experience
• Massachusetts Construction Supervisor’s License (unrestricted)
• Proficiency in MS Office and work order software
• Valid driver’s license and ability to use a personal vehicle for campus-related transportation
• Comprehensive knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, and Carpentry

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 3 years of recent professional experience in a higher education work environment
• Hands-on experience in building maintenance, repair, assembly, and troubleshooting
• Strong competency in grounds maintenance and light construction
