About the role
Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and facilitate leadership development initiatives, workshops, retreats, and trainings for student leaders and governing boards.
- Provide developmental advising to undergraduate student clubs and organizations across Columbia College and SEAS, covering areas such as organizational leadership, conflict navigation, and ethical leadership.
- Support the growth and sustainability of student organizations through leadership coaching, strategic planning, and officer transition mentorship.
- Guide student organizations in navigating University policies, procedures, and budget management.
- Manage and develop student organization operations using systems like Campus Groups, including creating training materials and resources.
- Collaborate with campus partners such as Facilities, Public Safety, and University Event Management to support student activities.
- Participate in key student life initiatives including New Student Orientation, homecoming, and commencement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent related experience.
- 2-4 years of related professional experience.
- Strong facilitation, organizational, and project management skills.
- Strong knowledge of student development theory, leadership development theory, multiculturalism, and community building.
- Ability to work frequent evening and weekend hours, as well as overnight travel for off-campus retreats.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel Administration, or a related field.
- 4 or more years of experience developing and facilitating training and workshops.
- Experience working with high-touch student organizations.
- Knowledge of theoretical and practical applications of experiential learning in higher education.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an urban setting with a diverse student population.
