Assistant Director of Recreational Programs

Responsibilities

• Oversee water quality and daily maintenance of the pool facilities
• Supervise aquatic staff and Student Water Quality Technicians
• Program, schedule, and conduct pool and fitness classes
• Provide safety and aquatics training for lifeguards and the university community
• Facilitate campus health and wellness events
• Manage registration, participant communications, and instructor paperwork
• Handle administrative tasks including payroll, timesheets, and HR documentation
• Perform lifeguarding duties as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Outdoor Studies, or a related field (relevant experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis)
• Two years of experience coordinating or administering recreation programs
• CPR and First-Aid certification
• American Red Cross Lifeguard certification (or ability to obtain shortly after hire)
• Certified Pool Operators License (or ability to obtain shortly after hire)
• Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a driving history check

Preferred Qualifications

• American Red Cross Instructor certification
• Wilderness First Responder (WMA or WMI)
• EMT certification
• Water Safety Instructor (WSI) or WSI Trainer
• USA Swimming or Total Immersion certifications
