Assistant Director of Recreation for Aquatics and Intramurals

Responsibilities

• Recruit, supervise, and train lifeguards, instructors, and student supervisors
• Teach group swim lessons and CPR-Pro/Lifeguard Certification classes
• Manage the Recreational Swim Program, including member recruitment and guidelines
• Produce intramural league schedules, tournament brackets, and special event schedules
• Assist with equipment inventory and maintenance for intramural sports
• Support facility scheduling, daily operations, and peak-hour supervision
• Coordinate the department's overnight equipment loan program
• Act as a liaison with the Red Cross for instructional materials and certification tracking
• Implement the department's risk management plan and conduct program assessments

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree
• At least two years of experience in college or community aquatics (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
• American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification
• Water Safety Instructor (WSI) certification (or the capability of passing the course)

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as a participant or having working knowledge of a broad range of athletics/recreational sports
• Direct experience working with college students
