About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and artistic direction for the Chapel Choir and Handbell Choir programs.
  • Plan and execute liturgical music for Sunday liturgies, Holy Days, and major University events.
  • Compose, arrange, and commission liturgical music to meet the needs of various worship services.
  • Recruit, mentor, and supervise student musicians, accompanists, and student directors.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Campus Ministry to design formative liturgical music programming.
  • Manage the chapel music library, archival systems, and the maintenance of musical instruments.
  • Serve as a liturgical music consultant for weddings, memorial liturgies, and special sacramental celebrations.
  • Ensure institutional compliance with copyright laws and licensing agreements.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in music or sacred/liturgical music.
  • 4-5 years of experience leading music for Roman Catholic liturgical celebrations.
  • Proficiency in piano, organ, voice, and/or choral conducting.
  • Ability to arrange and compose music using composition software.
  • Deep familiarity with Roman Catholic liturgy and a commitment to the University's Catholic identity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in Higher Education, specifically within a Campus Ministry setting.
  • Ability to lead diverse musical traditions including chant, bilingual, multicultural, and contemporary styles.
