About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive financial aid counseling to prospective and current students and their families regarding federal, state, and institutional programs.
- Review and process financial aid applications, verification documents, professional judgment requests, and scholarship administration.
- Coordinate borrower delinquency, default prevention, and loan repayment success initiatives to promote long-term financial wellness.
- Monitor repayment trends and conduct targeted outreach to former students to reduce delinquency and default rates.
- Collaborate with campus partners such as Admissions, Student Billing, and Academic Advising to support enrollment and retention.
- Serve as a backup resource for financial aid system functions, including Banner processing, system testing, and report reviews.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of progressively responsible experience in financial aid administration or higher education student services.
- Strong knowledge of federal Title IV regulations, need analysis, and verification processes.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to interpret complex federal regulations and explain them clearly to diverse audiences.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience administering federal, state, and institutional aid programs in a higher education setting.
- Proficiency with financial aid management systems such as Banner, Cognos, or Slate.
- Experience with default prevention, financial literacy programming, or borrower outreach.
