Assistant Director of Engineering

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for engineering and facilities management functions
• Oversee daily engineering operations and supervise technicians and contractors
• Manage departmental operating and capital budgets, including labor and energy costs
• Assign and track work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, and capital projects
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, OSHA, and local regulatory standards
• Conduct regular inspections of property systems and equipment
• Facilitate employee performance evaluations, training, and development
• Oversee purchasing, inventory management, and vendor relationships
• Respond to guest requests and emergency situations promptly
• Lead energy conservation initiatives and capital improvement projects

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum 5 years of progressive facilities or engineering management experience in a hotel environment
• Minimum 2 years of people leadership experience
• CPR and OSHA certifications required
• Advanced knowledge of hotel engineering operations and building systems
• Experience with HVAC, fire protection, and ADA/EPA compliance
• Strong financial acumen and budgeting skills
• Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and engineering management software

Preferred Qualifications

• College degree in Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field
• Additional engineering licenses or certifications
