About the role
Responsibilities
- Counsel J.D. and LL.M. law students on professional formation, job search activities, career roadmaps, and interview preparation.
- Conduct professional development workshops covering topics such as resume writing, narrative development, and strategic job searching.
- Serve as the principal counselor and liaison for JD/MBA students, coordinating with the Columbia Business School and the Office of Admissions.
- Stay current on legal recruiting industry trends by participating in NALP, NYCRA, and other relevant professional committees.
- Develop specialty resources and assist in refining office publications and student communications.
- Support the development of innovative programming, coursework, and events for the law school community.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- 3-5 years of experience in the legal field, counseling field, or another professional environment.
- Experience in law practice, career counseling, program planning, or professional development.
- Strong technological literacy and computer skills.
- Excellent public speaking and oral communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- JD or LLM degree.
- Prior experience working in a law firm or academic environment.
- Experience working with diverse, multi-generational constituents in an inclusive environment.
- Familiarity with career services platforms such as Symplicity or Campus Groups.
