About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide individualized career exploration and progressive advising to medical students from matriculation through graduation.
- Develop and support career development programming, including workshops, CV development, and "Careers in Medicine" series.
- Guide students through the full ERAS and NRMP Match process, including application development and deadline management.
- Coordinate specialty exploration through fairs, panels, and networking events in collaboration with alumni and medical professionals.
- Manage observership and shadowing opportunities by coordinating with local faculty, hospital systems, and student organizations.
- Maintain detailed data sets regarding specialty choices, residency outcomes, and post-graduate career trajectories for accreditation and reporting.
- Support the review of Medical Student Performance Evaluations (MSPE) to highlight student achievements and academic performance.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Human Services, Psychology, Human Resources, or a closely related field AND 3 years of professional experience in career development, higher education, or HR.
- OR a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Psychology, Human Resources, or a closely related field AND 5 years of relevant professional experience.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for data management and presentation.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills for student-facing interactions and relationship building.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based environment.
- Advanced organizational and time management skills to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior administrative experience in higher education or the healthcare system.
- Experience with medical student career advising at an LCME-accredited medical school.
- Familiarity with AAMC Careers in Medicine programs and resources.
- Experience coaching, advising, or leading others.
