About the role

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct supervision to a team of managers and community organizers to ensure efficient service delivery
  • Oversee the planning and implementation of community-driven initiatives, workshops, and neighborhood revitalization activities
  • Develop programs focused on community organizing, leadership development, and community outreach
  • Manage local community outreach efforts, including door-knocking and telephone campaigns
  • Collaborate with the Program Director to execute the department's mission, vision, and programmatic strategies
  • Foster strong relationships with staff, HCZ leadership, and local community stakeholders
  • Ensure all program data and information are accurately tracked and reported
  • Manage stipends and establish partnerships with local businesses to serve as program vendors
  • Recruit and manage local volunteers for community advisory boards and resident meetings

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 3+ years of direct supervisory and program management experience in community building, organizing, or advocacy
  • Proven experience with budget management, including cost analysis and spending proposals
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Zoom, and Outlook
  • Experience working with community groups and community-based organizations
  • Familiarity with the Harlem community and the challenges prevalent in underserved communities of color
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and Saturdays
  • Experience with Salesforce or other data management systems is strongly preferred
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish, French, or English are a plus
