Assistant Director for TRIO Student Support Services

Responsibilities

• Oversee the first-year experience for incoming TRIO SSS students, including summer outreach and participation in Enrollment Days.
• Manage and develop TRIO events throughout the year in collaboration with the Academic Engagement Coordinator.
• Supervise the TRIO Tiger Peer Mentorship program, including the recruitment, training, and coaching of mentors.
• Teach one section each of College Mastery and Career Development courses per semester.
• Serve as a TRIO Specialist by meeting individually with assigned students in accordance with program regulations.

Requirements

• Master's degree in education, counseling, social sciences, higher education, or a related field.
• At least two years of experience in a post-secondary or advising environment.
• Proven experience working in areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
• Experience working with specific guidelines and regulations related to the TRIO SSS grant.
• Experience in the supervision of youth or young adults.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to work with diverse and underrepresented populations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Extensive work experience specifically within a TRIO project or a program with similar objectives.
• Background or lived experience similar to the students served by TRIO SSS (e.g., first-generation college student, lower socioeconomic status, or a student with a disability).
