About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for community engagement and the student experience at Grasselli Library and Breen Learning Center.
- Oversee the peer-to-peer academic tutoring service and manage a Graduate Assistant.
- Manage the peer-to-peer research and reference service.
- Develop and host programming and workshops for the library's makerspace focusing on creativity and experimentation.
- Hire, train, and supervise undergraduate student employees.
- Arrange library events such as new student orientation, finals week, and wellness programs.
- Teach course-integrated information literacy, AI literacy, and library research instruction.
- Provide in-depth research and reference assistance to students and faculty.
- Educate the campus community on the ethical and responsible use of generative AI and emerging technologies.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in library and information science (or equivalent).
- 1 year of professional experience in an academic, public, or school library.
- Demonstrated experience in planning and overseeing library programming and services.
- Experience teaching information literacy and critical thinking skills.
- Experience providing research and reference assistance via multiple methods (in-person, email, chat, etc.).
- Demonstrated knowledge of AI tools, including language models and citation generators.
- Proficiency in Google G-suite, MS Word, and Excel.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and collaborative communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience training and supervising undergraduate student employees.
- Familiarity with Springshare products (e.g., LibGuides, LibAnswers).
- Experience with the ethical and effective use of AI in teaching and library services.
- Familiarity with Learning Management Systems such as Canvas.
- Experience in teaching or tutoring.
