About the role

Responsibilities

  • Manage a research lab in Oakland, CA, including the training and supervision of undergraduate student research assistants
  • Oversee digitization initiatives and implement local digitization workflows
  • Forge and maintain partnerships with Bay Area collaborators to expand the archive
  • Conduct on-site and off-site research to support project goals
  • Assess copyright and privacy concerns related to digital collections
  • Maintain high-quality metadata standards for archival materials
  • Participate in project outreach and contribute to overall leadership efforts

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Library Science, an advanced degree in a related field (transgender history or archives), or commensurate experience
  • Demonstrated knowledge of digital archives and digitization workflows
  • Proficiency with metadata and archival description standards, specifically Dublin Core
  • Working knowledge of intellectual property, copyright, and privacy issues in digital collections
  • Facility with transgender-related topics
  • Excellent research, writing, and oral communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a supervisory or leadership role
  • Experience with project management
