About the role
Responsibilities
- Manage a research lab in Oakland, CA, including the training and supervision of undergraduate student research assistants
- Oversee digitization initiatives and implement local digitization workflows
- Forge and maintain partnerships with Bay Area collaborators to expand the archive
- Conduct on-site and off-site research to support project goals
- Assess copyright and privacy concerns related to digital collections
- Maintain high-quality metadata standards for archival materials
- Participate in project outreach and contribute to overall leadership efforts
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Library Science, an advanced degree in a related field (transgender history or archives), or commensurate experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of digital archives and digitization workflows
- Proficiency with metadata and archival description standards, specifically Dublin Core
- Working knowledge of intellectual property, copyright, and privacy issues in digital collections
- Facility with transgender-related topics
- Excellent research, writing, and oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a supervisory or leadership role
- Experience with project management
