Assistant Director Academic Career Advising

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and supervision for a team of integrated academic and career advisors.
• Manage office-delivered programming, including intrusive advising efforts and career development initiatives.
• Serve as the primary liaison for pre-health interested students within the first-year advising population.
• Supervise an advising team and provide timely performance feedback and direction.
• Design, develop, and deliver workshops on major/minor selection, career development, and graduate school planning.
• Provide academic and professional advising through one-on-one and group sessions for assigned undergraduate cohorts.
• Oversee academic and career programming such as immersion trips, resume initiatives, and mock interviews.
• Assess and analyze data related to at-risk first-year students to inform outreach strategies and proactive interventions.
• Collaborate with faculty, staff, and campus partners to align advising practices with student success goals.

Requirements

• Experience in academic advising and higher education management.
• Proven skills in assessment, planning, and program review.
• Ability to work with diverse populations and communicate effectively with students, parents, and faculty.
• Strong organizational, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience managing escalated student cases and maintaining accurate student records.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in a relevant field.
• At least two years of direct academic advising experience.
• Expertise in career counseling methods and aptitude assessment instruments.
