Assistant Design Planner

Responsibilities

• Create, update, and manage design programmes using Primavera P6
• Respond to emerging issues and adapt project plans accordingly
• Liaise with internal design teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to coordinate design development phases
• Produce tender programmes to support bid submissions
• Review and administer design schedules to ensure accuracy and feasibility
• Collaborate with construction, project management, and technical teams
• Monitor project progress to ensure alignment with agreed timescales and cost plans
• Forecast resource requirements for the Omexom Design Business Unit
• Evaluate the impact of design changes on programme delivery

Requirements

• Proven experience working on major projects within the energy sector (ideally electricity transmission)
• High proficiency in Primavera P6, including resource/cost loading and financial forecasting
• Strong planning and scheduling expertise with the ability to build programmes from first principles
• Good knowledge of NEC3/4 contracts and their application to programming
• Familiarity with CDM regulations and their influence on project timelines
• Strong IT proficiency, particularly in Microsoft Office, MS Project, and advanced Excel functions
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Significant construction experience on large, multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects
• Understanding of Construction Management principles
• Previous experience in planning specifically for design teams or functions
