Assistant Dean, University Advising

Responsibilities

• Serve as an advising dean for an assigned group of undergraduate students from entry through graduation
• Provide academic guidance to at-risk populations, including students on academic probation or requiring Satisfactory Academic Progress plans
• Supervise a team of 18 Peer Advisors
• Assist with Pre-Health initiatives, including interviews, portfolios, and programming
• Plan and implement advising registration events and coordinate block registration for STEM students
• Support New Student Orientation and Undergraduate Admissions events
• Collaborate with campus partners such as Student Access Services, Hofstra International Programs, and the Center for Academic Excellence
• Monitor student academic progress in collaboration with retention staff and faculty

Requirements

• Master's degree required
• At least two years of experience in advising, counseling, or a related field within higher education
• Strong interpersonal, human relations, and problem-solving skills
• Proven ability to think critically and strategically in a collaborative environment
• Strong quantitative and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications

• 2-3 years of experience using data systems such as Ellucian Banner, EAB/Navigate, and Degree Works
