About the role
Responsibilities
- Oversee the design and implementation of the Undergraduate Community Initiative (UCI) programs, including faculty–student engagement, alumni conversations, and the annual MLK Day Celebration
- Work closely with the Community and Culture Faculty Adviser and the Chief of Staff to shape and assess UCI offerings
- Support and expand student-led programs that foster connections across differences and promote meaningful dialogue
- Supervise and mentor a cohort of UCI Undergraduate Interns, cultivating their leadership and involvement in program execution
- Serve as the primary liaison to Columbia College offices and campus partners, including Undergraduate Student Life and College Development and Alumni Relations
- Manage UCI’s budget, staffing, communications, and event logistics
- Meet with individual students or groups to provide counsel regarding community building and stewardship
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree required
- 4-6 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience working with college students in areas such as academic advising, teaching, or academic administration
- Strong project management, organizational, and analytical skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (Master's, PhD, or EdD)
- Demonstrated experience managing strategic initiatives or institutional priorities
- Strong interest in the relationship between academic life and the broader student experience
