Assistant Dean, Community and Culture

Responsibilities

• Oversee the design and implementation of the Undergraduate Community Initiative (UCI) programs, including faculty–student engagement, alumni conversations, and the annual MLK Day Celebration
• Work closely with the Community and Culture Faculty Adviser and the Chief of Staff to shape and assess UCI offerings
• Support and expand student-led programs that foster connections across differences and promote meaningful dialogue
• Supervise and mentor a cohort of UCI Undergraduate Interns, cultivating their leadership and involvement in program execution
• Serve as the primary liaison to Columbia College offices and campus partners, including Undergraduate Student Life and College Development and Alumni Relations
• Manage UCI’s budget, staffing, communications, and event logistics
• Meet with individual students or groups to provide counsel regarding community building and stewardship

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree required
• 4-6 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience working with college students in areas such as academic advising, teaching, or academic administration
• Strong project management, organizational, and analytical skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree (Master's, PhD, or EdD)
• Demonstrated experience managing strategic initiatives or institutional priorities
• Strong interest in the relationship between academic life and the broader student experience
