Assistant County Engineer

Responsibilities

• Perform and oversee complex civil engineering work involving roadway, bridge, and drainage design
• Assist the County Engineer in managing the Engineering Division of Public Works
• Plan, organize, and evaluate the work of consultants and contractors for capital improvement projects
• Develop and monitor short- and long-term plans, goals, and budgets in alignment with County priorities
• Ensure project conformance with local, State, and Federal regulations and standards
• Review and approve developer-submitted plans, plats, and designs for compliance with County policies
• Coordinate engineering studies and write specifications, contracts, and cost estimates for construction
• Respond to public inquiries regarding traffic mitigation, safety devices, and other engineering requests
• Represent the Department in regional transportation planning and inter-agency committees

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field
• Professional Engineer (PE) license
• Arizona Professional Engineer license (or ability to obtain within six months of employment)
• Valid Arizona driver's license
• Experience in civil engineering, construction, highway traffic engineering, or land development
